THE LINNAEA DESIGN GARDEN

Linnaea Design is located on an old farmstead in the Animas Valley of SW Colorado near the town of Durango. It is where the desert meets the mountains and the setting provides rich glacial soil, abundant snow-fed waters of the Animas River and a growing season that extends from May through early October. 

 

The gardens themselves sit on a two-acre parcel and include naturalistic gardens in the style of Piet Oudolf filled with perennials and native grasses, English cottage gardens with roses, dahlias, and poppies, and hoop houses bursting with lisianthus and Canterbury bells. We have been growing and trialing different varieties of specialty flowers since the 1990s and are always looking for that certain subtle shade, the delicate sway, or a beautiful silhouette that a flower might bring to our palette.
